Johto Region:

  • New Bark Town: Starter Pokemon (Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile) from Professor Elm.
  • Route 29, 30, and 31: Common Johto Pokemon.
  • Violet City: Bellsprout from a trade.
  • Sprout Tower: Gastly (night only).
  • Ruins of Alph: Various Unown forms.
  • Union Cave: Various Water and Rock-type Pokemon.
  • Slowpoke Well: Slowpoke.
  • Azalea Town: Trade for a Machop.
  • Ilex Forest: Farfetch’d (requires Cut).
  • Goldenrod City: Gift Eevee from Bill.
  • Ecruteak City: Eevee from Bill (after obtaining all 16 Badges).
  • Burned Tower: Rattata, Raticate, Zubat.
  • Tin Tower: Ho-Oh (after Rainbow Wing from Ecruteak City).
  • Olivine City: Tyrogue from a man in a house.
  • Cianwood City: Shuckle (requires Rock Climb).
  • Safari Zone Gate: Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Exeggcute, Rhyhorn.
  • Mahogany Town: Gyarados (Lake of Rage).
  • Lake of Rage: Red Gyarados.
  • Blackthorn City: Dratini (from the Dragon Club).
  • Dragons Den: Catchable Dratini after passing a test.
  • Mt. Mortar: Axew (requires Surf and Waterfall).

Kanto Region (Post-National Dex):

  • Pallet Town: Starter Pokemon (Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle) from Professor Oak.
  • Viridian City: Eevee (from Celadon Mansion).
  • Cerulean City: Lapras (Fridays).
  • Pewter City: Hoenn Starter Pokemon (Treecko, Torchic, Mudkip) from Steven Stone after completing the Hoenn Sound Pokégear station.
  • Celadon City: Game Corner (various Pokemon in exchange for coins).
  • Fuchsia City: Safari Zone (various rare Pokemon).
  • Cinnabar Island: Trade for foreign-language Electrode.
  • Vermilion City: Pikachu (Gift from the guy in the Pokemon Fan Club).
  • Victory Road: Various strong Pokemon.
  • Indigo Plateau: Legendary Birds (Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres) after obtaining all 16 Badges.
  • Mt. Silver: Strong wild Pokemon including evolved forms of some starters.

Where are rare Pokemon found?

Rare Pokemon can be found in special places like the Ruins of Alph, the Safari Zone, Tin Tower, and Whirl Islands.

How do some Pokemon evolve?

Some Pokemon evolve in special ways. Tyrogue evolves based on its stats, Eevee evolves through friendship, and Togepi evolves through happiness.

When and where can I catch Johto starters in Kanto?

After getting all 16 Badges, you can get Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle from Professor Oak in Pallet Town during your journey through Kanto.
